Armen Ghazaryan Recital
8 p.m. First Congregational Church, 62 Centre St. Ghazaryan has been playing violin on Nantucket since 2002. He was raised in Moscow where he studied under Vladimir Spivakov and Victor Khachaturian. Part of the 2008 Nantucket Arts Festival.
Art of Water Gardens Tour
1-5 p.m. Nantucket Island School of Design & the Arts, 23 Wauwinet Road. Larry Cronin explores sculpturally-formed water features, waterfalls, contemplative spaces and earth ponds with indigenous plants. Part of the 2008 Nantucket Arts Festival.
Beachcombing

Celebrations!
10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum, 47 Union St. The museum’s summer 2008 exhibition displays rare baskets, wood and antique ivory carvings, scrimshaw and paintings used by Nantucketers to commemorate and celebrate island life’s special occasions. Free with museum admission.
Church Tower Tour
10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Congregational Church, 62 Centre St. You really haven’t seen Nantucket until you have seen it from the tower of the Old North Church. The enclosed 94-step climb has several stopping points for resting and a museum level with historic photographic displays. Tours run daily except Sundays. Call (508) 228-9115 for more information.

Marine Ecology tour
10 a.m. Maria Mitchell Association Aquarium, 28 Washington St. Daily except Wednesdays and Sundays. Nantucket’s Presidential Documents
The Whitney Gallery, NHA Research Library, 7 Fair St. American presidents have been involved in the affairs of Nantucket from the days of the nation’s foundation. The NHA holds documents signed by almost every president from George Washington to Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Nature Journaling
3:30-4:30 p.m. Hinchman House, 7 Milk St. Using artistic talent and observation skills, students will sketch, collect and create the beginnings of a nature journal to take home. Grades 2-5. Open Artist Studio-Miki Lovett
10 a.m.-5 p.m. 1 Skyline Drive. Open studio with Miki Lovett, handweaver. Visit the artist’s residence/studio where she creates her decorative, wearable and functional textiles, with demonstrations of weaving, marbling and spinning. Part of the 2008 Nantucket Arts Festival.

Peter Foulger Gallery, Whaling Museum, 13 Broad St. The Nantucket Historical Association’s summer exhibit features the history, architecture and character of this small settlement on the eastern shore of Nantucket. On display through Nov. 11.

Irish Concert: Tom O'Carroll
